Edward Glaessmann

 Edward Glaessmann, 88, of Salisbury Twp., passed away on October 17, 2014.  He was the husband of Doris (Zwickl) Glaessmann.  They celebrated their 52nd  wedding anniversary in September.  Born in Germany, he was the son of the late Gustav and Mathilde (Fleming) Glaessmann.

Edward immigrated to the United States in 1951 and became an American citizen in 1957. He worked as a master machinist for the former General Machine Corp. in Emmaus, retiring after 33 years.  He was a member of St. Peter’s German Lutheran Church, Allentown.

Survivors:  In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by his two sons:  Edward Jr. of Center Valley, and Robert and wife Kristyn of Pasadena, MD.; foster son, nephew Dieter Rode and wife Lisa of Kunkletown; sister, Martha and husband Frank Wirth of Allentown; brothers, Otto and wife Ingeburg of Allentown, and Daniel and wife Beverly of Omaha, NE.; beloved cousin, Elfriede Ulrich of Macungie; nieces, nephews and cousins.   Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Henry, Gustav, Adolf; sister, Olga Rode, and godson, Ronald Hoke, Jr.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of St. Luke’s Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Edward.
