Betty Jane Lakis

Betty Jane Lakis, 89, of Allentown, passed away Dec 3, 2014 at Phoebe Home in Allentown. She was the loving wife for over 50 years of the late John A. Lakis. Born in Allentown, PA, She was the daughter of Rollin and Esther Wetzel. She was predeceased by Brother Robert and Sister Bernice Gieger. Before retiring she worked as a waitress at the A & B restaurant at 6th and Linden Sts. in Allentown. John and Betty owned the Good Steer Drive In on Fullerton Avenue through the early 1970’s.


Survivors: Sons Tony and wife Karen of Salem NH, Rollin and wife Joette of Los Alamos NM; daughter Alice Bourizk of Coplay PA; Grandchildren: Nicole, John, Amanda, Dan, Sabrina, Isabelle, Allison. Great Grandchildren: Lydia, Mason, Hanna.


Services: viewing Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, 1227 W. Hamilton St., Allentown. Viewing Monday morning, 9 to 9:30 in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 1607 W. Union Blvd., Bethlehem followed by funeral service at 9:30 a.m. Interment following at Cedar Hill Memorial Park.


Contributions: in lieu of flowers can be made to the St. Nicholas Philoptochos society, c/o the church.
