James Nelson Bast, 83, of East Stroudsburg and Allentown, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, February 9th, 2025, after a long illness. Born on May 3, 1941, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, James was the son of the late Ruth Irene Nagle Bast and Jordan Nelson Bast.

James was a proud graduate of Kutztown University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to helping others, particularly those with visual impairments, working tirelessly to improve their quality of life.

Known for his kindness, generosity, and strong sense of community, James touched the lives of many—friends, neighbors, and family alike. He was an avid enthusiast of cars and trains, and he found great joy in sharing these passions with others.

James was actively involved with several local organizations, including the Phillipsburg Railroad Historians, the Keystone British Car Club, and his local neighborhood association. His commitment to these groups reflected his deep love for history and his desire to give back to his community.

He will be remembered not only for his love of trains and cars but for his warm heart and unwavering support for those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and dedication, one that will be cherished by all who knew him.

James is survived by his family and many friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Memorial services will be held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 417 N. 7th St. on Saturday, February 15th at 3:00.
