Lawahiz Assad
09/19/2025
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Lawahiz “Lahza” (Alkhal) Assad, age 91, who passed away peacefully in her home in Allentown, PA, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 4th, 1934 and passed away September 19th, 2025. She was a cherished mother, grandmother “Sittoo”, sister, cousin, aunt and friend, remembered for her warmth, joy, and unwavering love. Her memory will be eternal, and may she rest in Heavenly peace, in the arms of Our Lord.
Lawahiz was born in Amar, Syria and migrated to America in 1960. Lahza greeted all who came into her presence with open arms and was an extremely grateful and optimistic woman. She had an impact on so many people around her through the actions that she took, and the way that she treated others with profound respect, care and love. Her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother /Sittoo. She lived for her grandchildren, John, Kate and Joshua, and there was never a time when she did not make them feel loved beyond measure.
In her younger years, she worked at Syntex/Wright’s Fabrics, along with Western Electric/AT&T. More than anything she was a homemaker and mother to her four children.
She is now reunited with her beloved husband, John Ray Assad, and her son, Sameer Assad. Lawahiz leaves behind a legacy of love and strength.
Survivors: George Assad, Abe Assad and his wife Fadia Haik Assad, and Mary Assad. She was the proud grandmother of John, Kate, and Joshua, and step-grandmother to Vyolet, Stephanie, and Gaby.
Born to Wadih Alkhal and Wadiha Barber Alkhal, Lawahiz was the sister of Mamdouh Alkhal and the late Ziyan Alkhal.
