Janet May Fisher-Atiyeh, 87, known for her outgoing personality and sense of humor, passed away peacefully at Country Meadows Retirement Community, Allentown, PA, on January 31, 2026.
Janet was the loving wife of Gary R. Fisher, and later in life, was happily married to James H. Atiyeh.
Janet was born in Kutztown, PA, to Thomas Dale Mintzer and Bertha Mae Lowe. Janet attended elementary school in Kutztown and made a friend for life in Marcia (Weaver) Reidenhour. She moved to Allentown and attended Harrison-Morton Jr High, where she was the class valedictorian. Janet studied Business Education with honors at William Allen High School.
Janet met Gary at William Allen. They had 5 children, twins Brian (Verde) and Scott (Sue), Keith (Colleen), Jill (Doug Haines), and Bruce Fisher.
Janet earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Cedar Crest College. She was employed by Air Products and retired in the accounting department.
Janet spent countless hours volunteering for the Alton Park Comets Youth League. She also volunteered at Lehigh Valley Hospital. She was a member of the choir and lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Kutztown.
Janet loved to laugh, smile, and socialize. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, Wheel of Fortune, eating cheeseburgers from the Buckeye, dining at Italian Delight, and trips to Chick-fil-A.
Survivors: Children Brian and Scott Fisher, nephew Thomas Riki Mintzer (Eden), step-children Jennifer Ashley (Paul), and Janine Atiyeh. Janet is survived by 11 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Janet was predeceased by her mother and father, brother Thomas Mintzer (Chiyoko Linda), Gary Fisher, James Atiyeh, children Bruce, Keith and Jill Fisher (Haines).
Services: A graveside service for family will be celebrated at a later date.
