Richard J. DeGroot, 72, of Monticello NY, passed away in Middletown, NY, surrounded by his wife and daughter. He was the husband of Frances DeGroot for 39 years. Richard was a sweetheart, friendly and kind, loved by the many people who knew him or even just met him and didn’t have an enemy in the world.
Born in Northampton, Pa. he was a son of the late Ethel and Frank DeGroot. He loved rescue pups, and was a member of the Next Level Gym and considered himself the #1 Steelers fan.
He is survived by his wife Frances; daughter Melissa Bailey and her wife Jenna Imes of Allentown; and his sister Terry DeGroot of Schnecksville.
Services: Graveside service, 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15th at Green Meadow at Fountain Hill Cemetery with Gail Hoover officiating. There will be a Celebration of Life party at a later date.
Donations in his name can be made to local shelters and animal rescues. Arrangements by Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, Allentown.
