John E. Thomas, 87,  of Whitehall, loving husband and father of four, passed away peacefully on April 20th, 2022 at his home. Born September 16, 1934 in Tamaqua, Pa., he was a son of the late John and Anna (Tarconish) Thomas. He attended Penn State and worked for Prudential Insurance for 33 years. 

He married Jacqueline Bonawitz and they raised two sons, Michael and John, and two daughters, Jodi and Gina. He adored his loving wife Jackie of 61 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and had a passion for the outdoors and loved hunting, fishing and golf. John won numerous local golf tournaments over his lifetime including the Knights of Columbus League in Allentown. He enjoyed hiking the mountains of Schuylkill County where he was raised in a coal mining family.

John was preceded in death by his father John and mother Anna; his brother Edward and sister Jeanette. He is survived by his wife Jackie; his four children Jodi of York, Pa., Michael and wife Carol of Hatfield, Pa., John and wife Lisa of Kensington, Md. and Gina of Whitehall, Pa. and a brother Joseph of Tamaqua. Also his four grandchildren Jessica, Jenna, Brian, and Michael along with many nieces and nephews.

Services: viewing on Monday, April 25th starting at 12:30 p.m. at Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, 1227 W. Hamilton St., Allentown. Funeral service begins at 1:30 with Rev. Scott Fobare officiating.
