Richard Anthony Malgadey
05/14/2026

Richard Malgadey, 86, lovingly known as “Dick” passed away on May 14, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of unwavering love and devotion to his wife of 60 years Carolyn (Rybacki) Malgadey.  Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Julius and Maryann (Maxim) Malgadey.

Dick served honorably in the United States Army as a Tank Commander.  He was stationed in Fairbanks Alaska and often spoke of his love of his time spent there.  After serving his country he worked for Grumman Aircraft and was part of the building of the Apollo 11 Lunar Module.    Before moving to Pennsylvania he began working in the construction industry and worked on the construction of the Twin Towers in NYC.  He continued to work in construction until retirement and was known to be a perfectionist in his trade.

More than anything, Dick cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.  He loved celebrating birthdays and holidays with his family and had a love of the outdoors.  To know Dick was to know someone you could count on.  He was always willing to lend a hand in need.  He will be deeply missed, forever loved and remembered for his generous heart.

Surviving with his wife Carolyn are his children:  Theresa Turk and her husband Brian, Lee Ann Frank and her husband Doug.  He was the devoted grandfather to his 2 grandchildren, Aiden and Madison.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held privately by the family followed by Dick’s interment at the Long Island VA National Cemetery.
