Kathleen J. Grym

Kathleen Joan (Ranello) Grym, of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, aged 72, passed away peacefully on October 10th, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. Born on November 3rd, 1953 in Staten Island, New York, Kathy lived a life full of love for her family.
Kathy spent her life caring for everyone, first her younger siblings and then her husband and seven children. She worked in the service industry, specifically as a waitress at a couple of diners, including Dina’s, the Look, Bruno’s and of course Sunrise Diner where she found many friendships and created her work family. Kathy loved playing poker and going to the casino with family, but nothing was more important to her than being called Mom and Grammy. Spending time with family meant everything to her and she truly cherished every holiday and family get together that we had.
Kathy is survived by her children, Douglas Grym (Tammy), Kathleen Babin (Clifford), Sarah Tophoney (Gina), Alisia Van Sloun (Dan), and Alan Grym (Nichole). Her Grandchildren, Courtney, Ashley, Brittany, Jarrid, Cassie, Kailyn, Gabriella, Madison, Jaclyn, Gavin, Kori, Kylie, Aubrey, Anthony, Juliet, Angela, and Aryanna. Her Great Grandchildren Isla, Rowan, Ava, and her siblings, Bernard Ranello (Donna), Joan Gilmore (Budha), Geri-Ann Aleski, Angela Ranello, Sandra Zambrotto, Cherilyn Arena (Salvatore) and sister-in-law Donna Ranello.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Joan (Somers) Ranello and Bernard Ranello; her husband Douglas R. Grym Sr.; her sons Floyd Grym and Charlie Grym, and her brother Patrick Ranello.
With respect to Kathleen’s wishes, the family would like to mourn with a private celebration of life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kathy’s memory can be made to the Purple Heart Foundation and St. Jude's.
