Robert H. Loucks, Retired Lutheran Pastor

Robert Henry Loucks, 83, faithful servant of the Lord and dedicated husband and father, died peacefully at home after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease on August 25th.  A native of Camden, New Jersey, he graduated from Muhlenberg College and the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.  Ordained in 1953, Robert organized two congregations for the Board of American Missions: St. Stephen Lutheran of South Plainfield and Faith Lutheran, Hillsborough.  He also served as pastor of Trinity Lutheran, Topton, Pennsylvania and finally, Nativity Lutheran, East Brunswick for the last 15 years of his calling.  Retired in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he served as interim pastor for four local congregations.  He was most recently a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Allentown.

 
Robert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Pedersen Loucks, a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Michael Schutzer, a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Loucks and Lisa Myers, a daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Mark Sanborn, six grandchildren and a sister and brother, Audrey Holt and Jay Loucks.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Loucks.
 
A celebration of Robert's life will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 6th at Zion Lutheran Church in Oldwick, New Jersey.  Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to ELCA World Hunger c/o Christ Lutheran Church, 1245 West Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA 18102 (or on-line at www.elca.org/hunger).  This was a cause which inspired great passion in Robert in his final years.
