Gloria D. Wormley

Gloria D. Wormley, 50, was called home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday May 17, 2014 at Lehigh Valley Hospice. She was born on June 1, 1963 in Bridgetown, Barbados. Daughter of Monica Armstrong and the late Ivan Forde. After immigrating to the United States, Gloria held several positions in the human resource arena and was a human resource manager for Lowes Home Improvement in Princeton, NJ.

Gloria founded the Rutgers Club of Lehigh Valley. Under her leadership, the club received the Edward E. McMahon Award (part of the Rutgers Excellence in Alumni Leadership Awards) for their work with Habitat for Humanity. She then joined the Rutgers University Alumni Association (RUAA) board of directors. Served as the Chair, RUAA Regional Clubs Committee. She initiated the Rutgers Alumni Day of Service program, which is now an annual program for the University. Gloria received the Scarlet Oak Meritorious Service Award. She genuinely cared about Rutgers and the people of her community. Served on the human resources committee rfor the Lehigh Valley Conferences of Churches. Critiqued resumes and cover letters for clients of the Professional Service Group.

Survivors:Gloria is survived by her loving husband: John S. Wormley Jr ; daughter: Cindy Armstrong-Moore; sisters: Sandra Armstrong-Clarke and Ingrid Armstrong-Walcott;  brother: Antony Armstrong.

Services: Calling Hour: 11:00 am; Memorial service: 12:00 pm on Saturday May 24, 2014 at Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, 1227 W. Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA.  Parking is available in our parking lot and also the large lot on Hamilton Street across from the funeral home.
